Health officials in the US state of Michigan have confirmed the first deaths linked to a Cyclospora parasite infection.
The two victims had underlying health conditions, and the infection caused severe dehydration, making their illnesses more serious.
Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that usually spreads through contaminated food or water.
It can cause watery diarrhea, stomach pain, and long-lasting illness.
Most patients recover with timely antibiotic treatment.
